RRC: Top Permian counties make up more than 60% of Texas production - Midland Reporter-Telegram

The Permian Basin dominated the Railroad Commission’s production statistics released this week for June.

The RRC reported that nine of the top 10 counties for oil production – according to preliminary production numbers – were from the Permian Basin and that they made up 60.11% of the 107.08 barrels produced in Texas.

Midland and Martin counties again ranked Nos. 1 and 2. They were the only counties with more than 10 million barrels produced. Midland County totaled 16.441 million barrels (15.3% of the statewide total). The RRC report 12.401 million barrels produced in Martin County. Combined the neighboring counties collected more than a quarter of the statewide production (26.9%).

In terms of natural gas produced, six of the top 10 counties were in the Permian, led by Reeves and Midland. The two counties combined for 139 billion of the 827.921 billion cubic feet produced in June.

In June 2021 the preliminary production of crude oil was 107.174 million barrels. The updated total was 120.209 million. During the same month, the preliminary production of gas was 791.989 billion cubic feet. The updated total was 889.128 billion cubic feet.
