As we approach 2024, runways have already began hinting at the coming year's most covetable beauty palettes. Deceivingly pared back, Chanel's Métiers d'Art show in Manchester debuted a string of monochromatic beauty ensembles, with one strong hue leading the charge; think lightly awakened lids and a generous application of flattering sunburnt peach, adorned across lips and cheeks.
The show, which look took place on Thomas Street, in the North of Manchester, saw models sporting pared back bases, with strong eyes and exaggerated winter blush taking centre stage. For the matching lip-to-cheek pigment, make-up artists harnessed the power of the Chanel Joues Contraste 64 Pink Explosion for a splash of watercolour blush and the Rouge Coco Flash in Freeze to provide an ultra-fine boost of sheer coral warmth. While the show directly drew from 60s music scenes (think reverse cat eyes and strong fluffy eyebrows), it subverted traditional beauty standards from the decade, modernising every look heavily via pigmented cheeks and shimmering fruity hues.
And despite the subtle, glossy looks being understated to say the least, they didn't disappoint when it came to predicting 2024's next complexion colours or confirming Pantone's coveted prediction.

From Very Peri to Viva Magenta, the forecasted shade not only contours the future fashion landscape, but also decides the lipstick hues and diffused shadows we'll be swiping and swatching all year long. 2024's dedicated tone? The soft, gentle and highly beauty appropriate: 'Peach Fuzz'.

While Chanel's delicate application boasted rosier hues, veering away from the orange base we associate with peach, it's coral showcase is a promising sign of shades to come. Fruit tones, from saturated to mellow, have had a striking hold on modern beauty trends online; strawberries, cherries and tomatoes led the charge when it came to carefully curated (and cohesive) make-up looks in 2023.
While the far gentler stone-fruit has yet to make an appearance in TikTok's illustrious 'girl' line-up, the platform's recent move towards all things coquettish is another solidifying factor that makes us think peaches are next.
