Eva Longoria pretty much always rocks a smokey eye and lined lip—it’s her signature look. In an effort to share with fans exactly how she achieves her signature beauty style, the Flamin’ Hot director went makeup-free in a “Beauty Secrets” video with Vogue to show how she achieves the full glam.
In the video, the 48-year-old pops on camera with rarely-seen freckles on full display. “You probably don’t recognize me without lashes or makeup,” she laughed, beginning to share how she preps her skin. She went on to demonstrate what she called her everyday makeup look, “which may be a lot for some of you guys because I’m Latina, I wear a full face of makeup every day,” she quipped.
She shared a preview clip of the video on Instagram, writing: “You guys, I filmed a little something something with @voguemagazine 😉 Thank you Vogue for coming over! Go check out the full video on YouTube now.”
Despite Longoria’s jokes about her bare face, fans and followers loved the natural look. “You are even more gorgeous without makeup!” one person commented. “Those freckles are a whole look!! 🔥” another added. “Beautiful bare-faced and with make-up!” someone else wrote.
In sharing her multi-step beauty routine, which includes a hyaluronic acid serum, eye serum, lip mask, SPF, skin tint, and neutral eyeshadow, Longoria shared that she didn’t see herself as beautiful for most of her life.
“I grew up as the ugly duckling in my family because my sisters are like blonde with hazel eyes,” she said. “I blossomed really late. I grew up without this relationship to beauty. [It] kind of wasn’t my thing. I was like, ‘Got it, I’m not beautiful. I’m gonna be smart. I’m gonna be funny.’ And I think that’s why I became an actor ... I found my identity in so many other things. I never identified as beautiful. I kind of still don’t.”
Any fan of Longoria’s who has witnessed her allure—with or without makeup—would find that hard to believe. And over time, she said, that self-perspective has shifted. For example, she was prepared to be the “hottest mom” at school pickup after filming the video.
