Most experts will tell you: The best Black Friday beauty deals are when you score a reasonable discount on ultra-spendy devices (like the Dyson Airwrap) or luxury (and luxuriously priced) skin care. But I'm always actually most enticed by less-showy Black Friday makeup deals, especially when there are so many products I love or have been wanting to try marked down to a degree that it feels foolish not to invest. And while Amazon's Black Friday Deals and Sephora's Cyber Week are offering up some steep price cuts, it's Ulta's depth of brands and breadth of products that have me most impressed this year. Right now, I'm particularly loving their Black Friday 2023 deals on mascara and lipstick — a number of name brands are available for just $12, many at 50% off.
Below, I've rounded up the best Black Friday makeup deals I've seen from a slew of retailers on mascara, lipstick, foundation, concealer, bronzers and blush, brow makeup, primers and blenders, oh my!
Best Black Friday deals on mascaras and eye makeup
Sephora
When I was a magazine editor reporting on photo shoots, every makeup artist I met used Milk Makeup's award-winning Kush mascara. Once you try it, you'll understand why: It's seriously volumizing and lash-lengthening, just one of the best products in the biz. I tried it again recently and realized it made me look like I had one of those Instagram filters on my lashes, they looked Disney-princess-thick.
Merit

As I've been saying all week, there's no rhyme nor reason to Sephora's Black Friday sales, but: from Friday through Sunday they're offering 50% off Lancome's incredible suite of mascaras, including Lash Idole, which will ring up at just $15.
KVD
This ultra-precise, award-winning eyeliner comes in both inky black and a softer chocolate brown. It's also not only smudge-proof, but waterproof too.
Too Faced
I like these eyeshadows because they are ultra-creamy, smooth and non-drying, but the real appeal is in the wide range of colors, including shimmery browns and pinks that I already use along with fun, snazzy pigments I'm curious about but don't want to fork out major cash to try.
Best Black Friday deals on lipsticks and lip stains
Peripera
I've been using these K-beauty tints for years as my go-to lip brightener . The colors are saturated but not too loud, most are universally flattering and the price is low enough that I own several so I can keep them everywhere— on my desk for Zoom meetings, in my purse and in my car, anywhere I might want a fast makeup refresh.
Fresh
This long-standing, wildly well-reviewed lip balm/stick/gloss is by Fresh, which was recently named "the #1 lip treatment brand in the U.S.," according to something called The NPD Group. Urban Decay
Vice is legendarily moisturizing/long-wearing/amazing and it — along with dozens of other name-brand lipsticks — has dropped to $12 at Ulta, making this an amazing time to stock up.
Kylie Cosmetics
Listen, maybe you don't* want to know what Kylie Jenner's ultra-famous lip-plumping gloss is really like, but if you're curious, now's the time to give it a go — it's just $12.
