Pumpkin spice season already impacts our coffee order, our wardrobes and even our interiors, and now it’s come for our make-up bag. An appropriately seasonal update on the latte make-up trend – think oranges and ochre shades over brown – the woman bringing the look to the fore is Jennifer Lopez, otherwise known as the woman who puts the “Lo” into glow.
Posting on her @jlobeauty Instagram account, J Lo walked her followers through how to achieve the warming look just in time for peak pumpkin spice season. Although it shares similarities with the latte make-up trend – which is all about rich, velvety coffee and chocolate tones on eyes, lips and cheeks – the key difference is the inclusion of some lighter shades. For that, J Lo turned to orange and ochre eyeshadows, applying the former in the crease of her sockets in a C shape, and adding the latter as a wash over her lids. Although the shades may feel a little more daring than failsafe brown, they’re actually inherently wearable, offering warmth and a pop of brightening colour to all skin tones without the intense drama of brown. To mimic the exact finish, go for her palette of choice, Tom Ford’s Eyeshadow Quad in Desert Fox.

As for the rest of her face, J Lo tapped a liquid peach highlighter onto her cheekbones and down the bridge of her nose. For anyone who doesn’t want to go full throttle with bronze, an apricot-toned shimmer is a subtle way of adding colour to the face. To finish she outlined her lips using a liner in another spiced shade, this time cinnamon, contouring the edges for a little definition before leaving the middle bare in contrast. Delicious.
