CRESTLINE – There’s no “making it up.” Lori Millenbaugh has found her niche as a make-up artist.

The Crestline native is the owner of Make-Up By Lori, a business she started in 2019. Millenbaugh works her magic at wedding venues and other locations, transforming the faces of brides, bridesmaids, and even prom-goers for their special day.

“I’m pretty happy to be doing what I’m doing. I really enjoy it,” said Millenbaugh, a licensed cosmetologist and Colonel Crawford High School graduate. “Of course, they already start out beautiful. I’m just enhancing it a little bit.”

Millenbaugh spends about 30 to 45 minutes on each client, using a professional airbrush gun to apply a liquid foundation. Called “TEMPTU,” the patented technique provides a more natural finish, she said, compared to the “cakey feeling” of some foundations.

She primes and preps the skin first, then starts with the eyes, brushing on layers of eyeshadow and filling in the brows with color, too. Foundation, blush, and highlighter are next, followed by lipstick and, finally, a setting spray to seal the flawless look.

Millenbaugh said most women, especially those in wedding parties, also opt for glue-on eyelashes, which are an additional fee. All the cosmetics are included, and Millenbaugh travels to appointments with two other must-haves – a ring light and a chair for her clients.

Millenbaugh, the daughter of Brian Millenbaugh and Janet Leonhardt, enrolled in the cosmetology program at Pioneer Career & Technology Center in high school. After graduating in 2018, she started cutting hair and doing nails at Tonya’s Hair Fashions in Bucyrus.

But make-up was always on her mind.
“I decided hair and nails weren’t my thing, so I put all my intentions on make-up,” she said. “It started progressing from there. I kept getting weddings and then high school girls for homecomings and proms.”

She also uses her talents and tools on mothers of the bride and anyone looking for a professional make-over before a photoshoot, dance, or other special occasion because business is booming for this local artist, who has certainly found her canvas.
