Say what you will about Netflix’s Anatomy of a Scandal, one thing cannot be argued with: Sienna Miller’s hair and make-up is impeccable. An effortless combination of yummy mummy-meets-London cool girl, Miller’s beauty looks – from those enviable loose waves to her glowy no make-up make-up – captivated viewers, even if the script didn’t manage to cast quite the same spell.
“We wanted to tell the story of Miller’s character, Sophie Whitehouse, through her hair and make-up. She is a character who had it all from birth, knows what looks good, the ‘right’ make-up to wear and how to look effortless – and she has the world at her feet,” says Kate Benton, the hair and make-up designer behind the look. “Of course, because I was working with Sienna, who is drop dead gorgeous, the basic look was already there.”
Her luminous skin came courtesy of Burberry’s Ultimate Glow Foundation, which Benton applied as a light base, as well as professional brand Maqpro’s PAM Daniel Phillips six-colour palette on any areas that required stronger coverage, and to shade her cheekbones. “The aim was to make Sienna look as if she hadn’t just come out of the make-up chair,” she says, so they avoided lots of heavy powders. On the apples of Miller’s cheeks, Benton applied Chantecaille’s Cheek Gelee, to impart a subtle flush.
