Serena Williams may be a superstar athlete, but at the end of the day, she’s just a regular mom trying to get her work done with kids at home. The 23-time Grand Slam champion recently made a makeup tutorial on TikTok, which was unceremoniously interrupted by her 6-year-old daughter Olympia. This hysterical moment is one we can all relate to!
“This is me trying to explain my post, match press conference make up,” the retired tennis star wrote on TikTok. “But of course I got interrupted…. So i did not finish but hey this is mom life.”
In the video, Williams opens up about going from playing a tennis match to a press conference, where she had just five minutes to shower and do her makeup. She does a quick tutorial in “real time” to reveal how she prioritized her routine to look her best in front of the camera. After about two minutes and 21 seconds, Williams says, “Being organized is super important ‘cause it’s like you have three minutes to get to your press conference.”
At this point, she’s putting the finishing touches of her blush. She continues, “And as a mom, I have three minutes before my daughter comes in — and there she is,” Williams adds as Olympia walks past the screen. How did she know she was about to walk in? Probably because moms are always in “ready mode” for their child to need them at any given point. Either way, the accuracy is impressive!
“I’m done, that’s it, that’s all I have time for,” Williams finishes.
“What are you…why are you putting makeup on?” Olympia immediately asks her mom.
“Well, because. Why wouldn’t I?” Williams responds, while sneaking in a quick swipe of lip gloss.
“And why, why, why you wearing makeup because, like, where are you going? To a ball or something?” Olympia asks. She’s wearing a princess nightgown with her hair up in a silk cap, looking like she’s ready for bed.
“Are you going to a ball or something?” Olympia asks again. “Where are you going with lipstick, blush, and stuff?” Oh, called out! These kids think they know us, but moms don’t always have to be leaving the house when we do our makeup (it’s just true 99 percent of the time).
“And so now, I’m not going to a press conference, but I am going to have to go. I had about the exact same time,” she quipped. Isn’t parenting great?
“Your daughter came in with the press conference questions! 🤣” one person joked.
“Not Olympia making sure the GOAT is not trying to go outside 😂,” someone else commented on the funny video.
“The manager came in wanting to know!! 🤣😂” another person wrote.
“The way Olympia entered right on cue 😂😂😂😂. Motherhood 😭🚶🏿♀️” someone else commented.
Williams shares Olympia and daughter Adira, 4 months, with husband Alexis Ohanian. In another recent video, she shared how she’s also always on call with her newborn baby.
She posted a video on Instagram today working out with a baby carrier on. “LISTEN – I stay on ‘ready set’ in case I have to RUN 🏃🏿♀️ and grab baby @adiraohanian …. But until then – burn inner thighs, BURN 🔥,” she captioned the impressive video.
