The developers of PlayStation 5 exclusive Destruction AllStars have revealed that the game will be adding bots to online matches in the future, in order to make up for the low player count. Destruction AllStars was originally meant to be a PS5 launch title, but it was delayed and turned into a PS+ game.

Destruction AllStars is a game where players compete in events that involve battling each other with cars. Stealing and smashing enemy vehicles is the main focus of many matches, with a gameplay loop that combines Destruction Derby with Grand Theft Auto. The game was criticized for a lack of content at launch, especially following its delay, but the developers promised a year's worth of content ahead of its release.

The developers of Destruction AllStars put out an update on the official Reddit page for the game. The update outlined some of the planned features that will be added to the game in the future. One of the upcoming features is the addition of bots to online matches, with the exception of the competitive Blitz mode. These AI players will be used to fill up the numbers in matches when players are spending a lot of time queuing up for a match.

The reason given for this update is that there are peaks and lows for times when players are online. The current suggested peaks are UTC 4 PM - 10 PM on weekdays and UTC 2:00 PM until 1:00 PM on the weekends. This suggests that the player base for Destruction Allstars has taken a dive since launch. It doesn't take long for matches to be filled up in most popular online games, and long waits are generally taken as proof that there aren't enough players to go around.

Destruction AllStars was originally meant to be one of the big PS5 launch titles, but its value has quickly fallen off, with the price going as low as $20 in April. It's good that the developers are adding bots, as players sitting around in queues is the quickest way to chase off a potential fanbase, especially when there are so many other online multiplayer options on the market.
